Morteza Moradipur, the deputy chairman of the Relief and Rescue Organization of the Red Crescent, said on Saturday that the relief and rescue operators provided services to people in 24 provinces, 132 cities, and 263 districts, including 129 roads, 23 towns, 100 villages and 20 nomad residential areas in the last week.
Some 452 operational teams, including 1,599 rescuers played role in the operation, he said, adding that 2,433 blizzard victims were provided with emergency shelters, 31 people were moved to safe places and 31 others were hospitalized.
The rescue personnel helped pull 783 cars out of the snow and drained water away from 59 residential units, the official noted.
The Relief and Rescue Organization distributed 32 tents and hundreds of food packages and other rescue items to people who were stranded on snowy roads, he said, adding that the rescue operation is underway in Razavi Khorasan and Fars provinces.
